Real Steel Band

Plymouth locals the Real Steel Band use The Millennium’s iconic auditorium to rehearse ahead of Notting Hill Carnival each summer.

The 50-piece steel drum band started at Estover Community College all the way back in 1989 and are still going strong. The band approached us about needing a big space to practice before competing for the title of Europe’s best steel band at Notting Hill Carnival, so we provided them with a temporary home in return for a very special sneak peak of their final rehearsal as a fundraiser at The Millennium and then bringing their awesome sound to the Union Street Party.
