Nudge Community Builders opened The Clipper in 2017 as a cafe and community space on the ground floor and created two homes above. We have supported a number of businesses and organisations take over the space, had a diverse range of markets & events and had some very delicious food served from the bar. 

Now is your chance! 

We are looking for someone to move into the bar area of The Clipper – it could be a cafe, restaurant, shop…we are open to creative ideas that support our mission to make Union Street a street the whole world loves.

We prioritise ventures that contribute or create opportunities for our local community and economy and provide something that is missing in our high street.

Now more than ever people are keen to support local businesses but we recognise that small businesses need support in such an uncertain time to adjust the way they do business, try new things and grow a network – being in the Clipper provides you with both. 

The deal

£700 per month including bills, you get a working kitchen and toilets, 350sq.ft kitted out cafe space. Plus business support from Nudge and we have 165 shareholders that make an effort to support businesses in our spaces. The initial contract will be for 1 year.

As you know Nudge isn’t your average landlord, we would want to collaborate with and support whoever moves in to be a success and we have a track record of supporting businesses to grow and attract funding. We want to look after our building as much as we hope the future business would want to care for it but equally our budgets are also stretched so we would be open about our budgets and agree spend accordingly. We would expect to have a monthly catch up regarding any issues with access/events or other uses at the back. Our long term vision is to open up the space as a route that people can access from the front and back – a cut through from Union Street to the new development and to encourage short term uses through the back.

All expressions of interest need to be in by midday on Friday 23rd October 2020.
